A Phillosophy of Lost is a commentary on the notion of being lost based on Calvin Rutstrum’s book, The Wilderness Route Finder and Harold Gatty’s Finding Your Way Without Map or Compass. This work-in-progress began as a by-product of occupying the environment on Governors Island, New York during a 5-month artist residency sponsored by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

Along with large-scale grids tracking the daily ferry ride to and from the island, video sketches and text inspired by the military history embedded in the landscape and surrounding seascape provide thoughts and reflections that periodically intersect with both the Once Removed and Chasing Napalm projects.
