I’m looking for participants in an on-going project that I have been working on concerning hair and identity. I have been slowly collecting samples of hair for nearly 10 years. As a result of this ritual, I find myself curious about color and texture, gender, age, length, sexual preference and profession. Ultimately, I am hoping to collect anywhere from 100-500 samples.

I am mailing packets to interested individuals that include a small, plastic, zip-lock bag, brief survey, and self-addressed stamped envelope. Participants will snip a sample of hair—it could be a longish sampling from underneath your hair, near the nape of your neck or a dusting from a haircut—even a sampling from your hairbrush. Whatever makes you comfortable and willing to use as a representation. You will place your sample in the plastic envelope and return back to me along with the survey. I may use any, all or none of the information depending upon how the artwork evolves. Answer only those questions that you are only willing to answer.

All information will be completely confidential.
